The customer is not buying a feature: they are buying what it does for them. Your job is to translate every technical strength into a concrete benefit for that particular person.
The FAB method
- Feature — the technical fact (e.g. « a 5000 mAh battery »).
- Advantage — what it makes possible (e.g. « long battery life »).
- Benefit — what it changes for the customer (e.g. « you get two days without recharging »).
It is the benefit, tailored to the need you uncovered, that creates the desire to buy. The same feature can translate into different benefits for different customers: it is up to you to adapt.
Avoid reciting a catalogue of features: pick the two or three points that answer precisely the priorities the customer has expressed.
Key takeaway: do not sell a feature, sell what it changes in the customer’s life. Always finish on the benefit.
