WordPress is a content management system (CMS): a tool that lets you create, edit and publish the pages of a website from a simple interface, without ever touching the code.

The dashboard

Once you log in (at your-site.com/wp-admin), you land on the dashboard. The left-hand sidebar gives you access to everything:

  • Posts and Pages — your content.
  • Media — your images and files.
  • Appearance — theme and menus.
  • Plugins — the additional features.
  • Settings — the site configuration.

Remember: everything is driven from /wp-admin. That is your control room.
