Once the parcel has been handed over to the carrier, two essential steps: move the order to the « shipped » status and enter the tracking number. That is what lets the buyer follow the parcel and wait patiently.
Marking the order as shipped
From the order page, select the « shipped » status. The buyer is then automatically told that the parcel is on its way. Only do this once the parcel has actually been dropped off: a « shipped » status while the box is still sitting in your hallway creates disappointment.
Adding the tracking number
The tracking number (given by the carrier when you send the parcel) makes it possible to locate the shipment at any moment. To enter it:
- Find the « tracking number » field on the order page.
- Copy the number exactly, with no spaces and no typos.
- Select the carrier you used if the screen asks for it.
- Save: the buyer receives the tracking details and can follow the delivery.
Why it matters so much
Tracking massively reduces anxious messages (« where is my parcel? ») and protects you: in a dispute, it proves the parcel really was sent and delivered. Example: out of 100 tracked orders, a seller receives far fewer complaints than a seller with no tracking, because everyone can check progress for themselves.
Key point: move the order to « shipped » only after the real drop-off, then enter the tracking number and the carrier. Tracking reassures the buyer and protects you in a dispute.
