An objection is not a rejection: it is often a sign of interest. The customer is picturing themselves buying and wants to clear up a doubt before committing.
The four-step method
- Acknowledge — « I understand your point. »
- Question — to pin down the real objection.
- Answer — with a targeted argument or piece of evidence.
- Confirm — check that the doubt has gone.
Never dodge an objection and never contradict head-on. « It is too expensive » usually hides « I do not see enough value »: restate the benefit rather than dropping the price too quickly.
Stay calm and considerate: your composure reassures as much as your answer does.
Key takeaway: an objection is a door, not a wall. Welcome it, understand it, then answer with value.
